Bio
Valeria Biscardi is a Master's degree student in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Naples Federico II. Her professional journey began at the same institution, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering in 2023. Her passion and curiosity for space, science, and innovation have always motivated her to seek out new experiences and challenges, to further develop both her knowledge and technical skills.
Current Role
She is currently completing her Master’s thesis at the University of Naples Federico II in collaboration with the ESA Φ-lab. Her work, aligned with the Φ-lab’s research areas, focuses on advancing the development of hardware-aware deep learning algorithms optimised for onboard processing of Synthetic Aperture Radar data in the range-compressed domain.
Areas of Expertise
Through numerous projects and academic activities, Valeria has developed a solid background in various areas of Space Engineering, ranging from Mission Design and Systems Engineering to Remote Sensing, a field in which she quickly developed a strong interest. She is currently deepening her knowledge in AI4EO, exploring how Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques can be applied to satellite data processing.
Vision for the Future
Driven by a vision of a future where scientific and technological progress is accessible to everyone and where researchers openly share their knowledge for the benefit of the wider scientific community, she is deeply committed to investigating how Artificial Intelligence can be used as a powerful and efficient tool onboard satellites, with the goal of accelerating the processing of SAR images and making them more accessible to end-users, while preserving their quality.
