Bio
Riccardo Contu is a PhD student at Sapienza University of Rome. He holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering and is currently in the final year of his doctoral studies. Throughout his academic journey, he has focused on the intersection of environmental science, remote sensing, and technological methods for extracting meaningful information from satellite imagery.
Current Role
Riccardo is currently completing the final year of his PhD and is undertaking a three-month visiting period at ESA Φ-lab. During this time, he is continuing his research on calibrating depth maps for height estimation, further developing and refining methods that support accurate 3-dimensional information extraction from satellite images.
Areas of Expertise
Riccardo’s expertise lies in Remote Sensing and Machine Learning. These specialisations enable him to design and develop algorithms for height estimation using bidimensional satellite imagery, contributing to improved accuracy and efficiency in Earth Observation data analysis.
Vision for the Future
Currently focused on successfully completing his PhD, aims to continue building on his work by contributing methods and tools that bring value to real-world Earth Observation applications.
