Bio
Mr. Evgenios Tsigkanos is a Lead Machine Learning Engineer in OHB Hellas since 2023, working on on-board processing, synthetic data generation, continual learning and neuromorphic computing. He obtained his BSc in Computer Science from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens and his MSc in Data Science from The Cyprus Institute. He has worked as a Research Assistant in the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC), as well as a Visiting Researcher at the European Space Agency (ESA), Φ-lab. He has won a Best Paper distinction for a co-authorship in CEUR-WS 2022 and acted as a Guest Lecturer in the University of Athens.
Current Role
In his current role as Visiting Researcher in ESA, Φ-lab, he is working on datasets for time-critical on-board ML applications, foundation models as well as the verification and validation of ML for on-board.
Areas of Expertise
His main interests lie in deep learning techniques for computer vision on satellite applications and on-board Machine Learning for spacecraft.
Vision for the Future
He is driven by the enablement of AI for critical applications on-board spacecraft (or in general on the edge/extreme-edge), in order to reduce the time response for use cases like disaster detection or relief.
