Bio
Emanuel Goulart is an Erasmus MSc student in the Copernicus Digital Earth and Geodata Science program, a joint initiative between Paris-Lodron University of Salzburg and the University of South Brittany. His work focuses on leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Earth Observation and developing nature-based solutions.
With a background in Environmental Engineering, he has worked at the intersection of water and technology, creating data-driven water balance solutions for companies. He has also contributed to Remote Sensing projects involving Object-Based Image Analysis, Computer Vision, and downstream applications for Sentinel-2 imagery.
As an ESA Φ-lab Visiting Researcher under Destination Earth, Emanuel explores how the DestinE platform can advance the geospatial sector by developing AI applications for its cloud environments. His recent work includes Earth Observation point cloud generation, AI-based atmospheric correction for Sentinel-2, and end-to-end pipelines for multi-class land use analysis. Beyond his research, he is an avid jazz guitarist with years of musical study.
Areas of Expertise
My expertise lies in several key areas of Remote Sensing, including Earth Observation and Climate Data Analysis. These specializations have led me to pursue AI/ML for leveraging EO tasks and analysis. This background enables me to develop pioneering work as an end-user on the DestinE platform and explore the full potential of DestinE regarding Digital Twins of the Earth.
Vision for the Future
Driven by a vision of nature-based solutions, I want to bring Earth Observation analysis and AI closer together to leverage nature-based approaches and improve resilience within our communities. I am committed to evolving in the EO4AI field and creating impactful solutions that will help support evidence-based, data-driven decisions.
