The European Space Agency Φ-lab invites innovators to the ESA Φ-lab Grand Marathon, a challenge to design next-generation Earth Observation concepts that enhance crisis monitoring and protect civilian populations, especially in conflict and disaster contexts. The Marathon focuses on AI-enabled Earth Observation solutions that can detect short-lived hazards, deliver near-real-time insights, and support humanitarian and civil protection actions.
A global call to action
This initiative is open to startups, companies, agencies, NGOs, and institutions worldwide, at any stage of development, from research to commercial application. Eligible applicants include organisations or individuals with the capacity to submit compact, scalable, and field-ready solutions. These solutions must leverage AI/ML, novel sensors, edge/on-board processing, or smart tasking to provide actionable information layers for decision-makers and field responders.
