Talk abstract
The rapid development of AI raises fundamental questions for the energy sector. There is no AI without energy, specifically, electricity for data centres. At the same time, AI could transform how the energy industry operates if adopted at scale. The IEA has developed a body of analysis to advance global understanding of this nexus, including two flagship reports and an Energy and AI Observatory mapping data centre and network infrastructure. Siddharth Singh and Thomas Spencer will present IEA's findings and discuss how Earth observation can be used to monitor and track the development of this sector.
